Bert’s roots are deep in Chicago, he grew up in Little Village and works as an engineer. Bert takes found materials and turns them into wall pieces, furniture, lamps, and storage items. His passion for interior design, recycled materials, and his Mexican heritage, give his pieces the perfect blend of the old and the new. Artist & Seamstress Duo

This mother & daughter duo have been collaborating their entire life. Manuela is a skillful seamstress with a lifetime of experience creating bridal gowns in Mexico. She is now creating beautiful bags, scarves and jewelry that express her roots. Sugeiri is an artist that keeps finding her voice and her passions by exploring her vibrant ancestry through diverse creative mediums. A photographer and Art Educator, she now works in the technology field, and enjoys designing fabric, painting, and creating beautiful pieces with her mum. They are currently designing a line of items under the label Mestiza by S&M.

E. Madrigal is a Mexican native residing in Chicago. She has diverse artistic interests and hobbies, among them traveling, as well as analog (darkroom) and digital photography. Preferred darkroom and shooting methods include double exposures, cross-processing, solarization, liquid emulsion, and photograms. The cameras of choice are toy cameras (Holgas, Black Bird fly), Nikon (35mm digital and analog), and a 1960’s medium format Mamiya c220. The subjects vary from the simple symmetry of flowers, to the other-worldly and surreal. Her work has been exhibited in Meztizarte Gallery, White Box Studio-Gallery, and the Chicago Public Library.
Ericka McCarthy is a Mexican import that grew up in Little Village and called Chicago home for a big chunk of her life. She is a former teacher and now has returned to the role of student! She has had the wonderful opportunity to participate and contribute to the Proyecto Latina poetry series, and publish poetry in the Proyecto Latina Anthology: Rebeldes. In her off time, she makes jewelry and is experimenting with screen prints and working on a children's book.
